In the world, but not of it.

Being in the world means more than simply inhabiting it. We must be active participants in our societies. Jesus didn’t sit by passively letting things happen. When the proverbial tables needed to be flipped, he flipped them. We cannot be like Him while idly sitting by doing and saying nothing when we see injustice.

When you speak truth you’re going to feel the heat. Jesus wasn’t liked. There were many who hated Him. They mocked him, spit on him, whipped him, and ultimately crucified him and yet He spoke truth anyways. He stood up for injustice anyways. He defended the defenseless anyways.

To be “not of the world” requires us to be free from worldly influence. We are to have nothing to do with works of darkness. However, when good becomes evil and evil becomes good and we are being sold a lie as the truth, we have an obligation as believers to shine light where there is darkness. We are asked to BE the light and continuously stand for truth, and by doing so we can lead others to Him.

Matthew 5

14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.

16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

Keep shining, friends ⭐️
