let's talk about

birth

"One thing I have witnessed and have always loved about birth, is that birth will take you to your limits and then take you over them. When a birthing mother is nearing 7/8 centimeter, characteristically known as "transition," she will undoubtedly say, think, or feel, "I can't do this anymore."  Oftentimes this feeling will manifest itself in those words, a moment of crying, a feeling of wanting to flee, or a frantic look.  It's when she begins to feel the birth has become stronger than her.  When you feel like you can't take anymore there is not much more to take.  However, it is at this moment that something magical happens.  The woman *is* the birth, and at this moment she digs down deep and finds strength she never knew she had.  There is a surge of hormones that cascade through her body spontaneously begins pushing and she finished the work that is needed to bring her baby.  She has just proven herself, to herself.  Often times the expression is "I did it!" Or, "I can't believe I just did that!" Yes you did it mama, that strength and power was you.  What you have now is an empowered mother, ready to meet the demands of motherhood.  From that a first gaze to the weeks and years that will follow, you did it, and you've got this.  You are an amazing woman."

My birth experiences have been the most empowering, most incredible, most magical and transformative experiences of my life, but I know this isn’t the experience for everyone.  One of my biggest passions in life is to help women have the type of experiences they, and their baby, deserve.  The kind that not only birth a baby, but a new woman, stronger and more confident in her abilities than ever before.  A woman born again, empowered and ready to take on the challenges of Motherhood.  Feeling like she can take on the world BECAUSE SHE CAN!

How you enter your journey into motherhood matters.  The way you feel about your birth experience matters.  The way you birth MATTERS.  I want nothing more in the world than for you to take ownership of your experience, however you want it to look, and leave with that feeling of “I did it!”  Yes mama, you DID!  Below are some of my favorite resources to help you be informed and educated, so you can make the best decision for you and your baby!  I hope it helps you have the birth of your dreams because you and your baby deserve it!  You are strong and you are powerful and you were MADE for this!

HOW TO FIND A MIDWIFE

3. Ask for recommendations from family/friends

4. Internet search “homebirth midwives” in your area.

ASK FOR A FREE CONSULTATION

Most midwives offer free consultations.  I recommend meeting with as many as you can and asking as many questions as you need to feel comfortable and confident.  Choose a midwife who makes you feel heard, supported, and empowered and who you feel you can trust.

BIRTH AFFIRMATIONS

My body is strong

My body is powerful

I love my body.

I love my baby.

My body knows just what to do to bring me my baby.

My baby is healthy and strong.

I trust my body and my baby.

I embrace the wisdom and innate knowledge of my body.

I surrender to the power of my body.

There is purpose in the pain.

My body is perfectly designed to birth my baby.

I feel confident, safe, and secure.

I relax my body through each wave.

I surrender my body over to nature.

I breathe my baby to me.

I welcome every wave knowing each on brings me closer to my baby.

This pain is not bigger than me.

This strength and power IS me.

I release my birthing over to my body and my baby.

I put fear aside and welcome my baby with joy and happiness.

I am not alone.

Birth is a safe, amazing, and empowering experience.
